Several ARME datasets, software tools, and research repositories are now listed in the project’s public UKRI/Gateway to Research record. Together they document the data and technical infrastructure behind the project’s work on musical synchronisation, onset annotation, and augmented-reality rehearsal systems.

The recent Rhythm Perception and Production Workshop (RPPW) showcased groundbreaking research and exciting advancements in the scientific study of rhythm perception and production. Among the standout contributors were the talented staff of the Augmented Reality Music Ensemble, who presented a remarkable collection of six posters and one keynote at this esteemed conference.

We are delighted to announce a groundbreaking development in the project. We have successfully created a remarkable plug-in designed to simulate the harmonious synchronization of musicians within a violin quartet, opening up new possibilities for testing and experimentation in group music performance.

The ARME team will present the project at an event hosted by Creative Futures, a new scheme set up by the Warwick Innovation District and University of Warwick to develop collaborations between academics and the creative industries in the Warwickshire region.

We are excited to announce the novel demo section of the website, which introduces the results of our music annotation effort as well as the Virtuoso Strings dataset, a set of annotated quartet recordings.

Among the recordings performed during the first session with the Coull quartet, LiDAR data was captured for each of the musicians. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) determines distance at several points by measuring how long it takes laser light to reach an object and reflect back.

Lovely dinner by all the ARME academics at “The Physician” to celebrate the completion of the first set of recordings.

At the BCU media labs, with our partners Semantic audio and Partplay, we recently recorded the musicians of the Coull quartet performing numerous pieces from Haydn and Beethoven. We asked the Coulls to play the parts multiple times in different styles (also in trios and duos formations).

We are excited that on September 1st the project has officially started! So many things to do now. We are in the planning phase of the first set of recordings. We will have multiple days of recordings with the Coull Quartet (see also their Facebook page) by our scientists together with our industry partners PartPlay and SemanticAudio.
